This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what limited information our Service touches, what we never collect, how advertising works on this site, and the rights you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@tiksy.app and we will explain.
1. Who we are
Tiksy (the “Service”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is a free online tool that lets you fetch no-watermark versions of public TikTok videos, extract their audio, and save photo slideshows. We do not run TikTok, we are not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance Ltd., and we do not host TikTok content on our own servers.
2. The short version
- We do not require an account.
- We do not ask for your email, phone number, or name.
- We do not keep a history of what you download.
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- We do show ads through Google AdSense to keep the Service free — see the Advertising section below for what that means and how to opt out.
- We use your browser’s localStorage only for your theme preference (light/dark), and that value never leaves your browser.
3. What we actually process
To keep the Service working and protect it from abuse, our servers briefly process:
- IP address — used in memory for rate limiting so one user cannot overwhelm the Service. It is never written to a persistent database. Once the rate-limit window expires (usually a few minutes), it is gone.
- The TikTok URL you paste — used only to fetch the metadata and media file you requested. We do not log a list of the URLs you submit.
- Short-lived metadata cache — when we resolve a TikTok link, we cache the resulting metadata in memory for up to 10 minutes so repeated requests are faster and gentler on upstream APIs. This cache holds the public metadata of the video, not anything about you.
- Standard request information — like any web server, our hosting provider briefly observes headers such as user-agent and the request IP to deliver the response. We do not keep our own access logs of your downloads.
4. What we do not collect
- No user accounts, profiles, or passwords.
- No email addresses, phone numbers, or real-world identity data — unless you choose to email us.
- No download history tied to you.
- No first-party advertising or marketing trackers of our own. Any advertising cookies are set by Google — see the Advertising section.
- We do not build our own cross-site profile of you.
5. Cookies and local storage
We do not set our own tracking cookies. We use your browser’s localStorage to remember a single setting — your chosen theme — and that value lives only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
Third-party services we use, in particular Google AdSense, may set their own cookies in your browser to serve and measure ads. We describe these in the Advertising section below and in our Cookie Policy.
6. Advertising and Google AdSense
To keep Tiksy free, we display ads served by Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google LLC. This involves the following:
- Third-party cookies. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Service and other websites.
- Personalized advertising. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting https://www.google.com/settings/ads
- Third-party vendors. You may opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting https://www.aboutads.info/choices
- EEA, UK and Switzerland. Where required, we ask for your consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can change or withdraw that consent at any time.
- More information. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
7. Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count anonymous page views and Core Web Vitals so we can improve performance. These are cookieless and do not personally identify you. If we add other analytics later, we will list them in our Cookie Policy first.
8. Other third parties we rely on
To deliver the Service, we send the public TikTok URL you provide to one or more upstream extraction APIs, currently tikwm.com and ssstik.io. These third parties resolve the TikTok URL into a direct media link and are governed by their own privacy policies. We share only what is necessary — typically the TikTok URL and the request metadata required to receive a response.
We also rely on Vercel as our hosting provider, running the Service from regions in the United States and Singapore. When you download a file, the actual video bytes stream from TikTok’s own CDN through our proxy endpoint to your browser. We do not store the file.
9. Data retention
- IP addresses used for rate limiting: held in memory only, usually for minutes, then discarded.
- In-memory metadata cache: up to 10 minutes per video.
- Downloaded files: never stored — they are streamed and forgotten.
- Theme preference: stays in your browser until you clear it.
- Advertising cookies set by Google: governed by Google’s own retention policies, not ours.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe / UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California): the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to certain uses, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising.
Because we do not maintain accounts or store identifiable records about you, in most cases there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete. To control ad personalization, use the Google and aboutads.info links in the Advertising section. To exercise any other right, email support@tiksy.app and we will respond in good faith. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. International users
The Service is operated from servers in the United States and Singapore, and our advertising and hosting partners may process data in other countries. By using the Service, you understand that your request may be processed in those regions.
12. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
13. Security
No online service is 100% secure, but we minimize risk by minimizing data: we hold almost nothing about you, briefly, in memory, on a hardened hosting platform.
14. Changes to this policy
If we update this Policy, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, post a clear notice on the site. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
