What the Repost button actually does
Tapping the arrow β Repost pushes a video into your followers' For You feeds with a 'so-and-so reposted' label. It does not save the video to your device, and it doesn't post it to your own profile grid β it's closer to a retweet than a re-upload.
Anyone who follows you may see it; the original creator keeps all credit and stats.
How to undo a repost
Changed your mind? Open the same video, tap the share arrow again, and choose Remove Repost. It disappears from your followers' feeds. There's no limit on reposting and un-reposting.
How to actually save a TikTok video
If you want the file itself β to archive, edit, or re-share elsewhere β you need to download it. Some videos allow in-app Save (share β Save video), but that keeps the TikTok watermark and the creator may have disabled it.
For a clean copy without the watermark, paste the link into a downloader. Copy the link from share β Copy link, then download the MP4.
- In-app save: fast, but adds the watermark and isn't always allowed.
- Clean download: paste the link into our downloader for a watermark-free MP4.
Re-sharing someone else's video responsibly
If you plan to re-upload another creator's clip rather than just Repost it, always credit them β tag the handle in your caption and on-screen. Re-uploading others' content as your own can hurt your reach and, for commercial use, raises copyright issues.
Reposting vs. duetting vs. stitching
Repost shares the original untouched. A Duet places your video beside theirs; a Stitch clips part of their video into yours. Use Duet/Stitch when you're adding your own reaction or commentary, and Repost when you simply want to amplify it as-is.
